Teaching Philosophy
Students learn best through interaction with others. My philosophy of teaching follows the social constructivist theory, which emphasizes community and collaboration. My primary role as an educator is that of facilitator and guide, creating lessons that involve learner agency, creativity, and feedback. My task is to offer activities that give students choice in their learning and a variety of tools and methods to demonstrate learning.
Leading by example, I model what I teach to foster positive relationships with students. I believe that if I do not have their hearts, I will never fully have their minds.
Future Goals as School Library Media Specialist
I’m excited to see how technology will further advance how we educate ourselves and others. I am especially interested in how the digital age has opened the doors of information exchange in the forms of electronic libraries, collaborative online learning, online learning environments, and reading communities.
I hope to collaborate with administrators and faculty to streamline curriculum, to examine educational theories and research that influence professional practice, and to form and advocate for partnerships within the global learning community.
